Greetings, my first post here... I am looking for advice in purchasing a Hond Rancher 2x4 ES. I have to dealer at $4400 out the door, waiving freight and setup. Is there any other strategy to buying from Honda that I might not know of? Anyone else work a good deal for one? I bought a Recon from these guys a few years back, and they took the shirt off my back, so I am attempting to make them work to sell me this one. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks much.

$440 is kinda cheap isn't it?You should look into the 4x4 for a bit more.My Recon is hard enough to get out of the mud, nevermind a 2x4 Rancher when it gets stuck.Good luck

Actually, thanks for catching that, I edited the price, it's $4400 OTD.

I really have no planss for mudding, my intentions are for logging roads and taking the short route to the river. Just fun riding and trails. No need for 4x4, I had a Recon, and it ripped it up for the riding I do, just want bigger and more comfortable. Thanks for the reply

$4400 sounds good to me as I paid $5000 for my 2000 4X2 ES. But I don't blame the dealer--it was one of those I-want-it-now deals, and before I was aware of a larger dealer right under my nose I could have used for diddling. Seeing as how I had bought a Recon 10 days before, I should have squeezed a few $ out of them. Oh well.

This is probably the lowest priced dealer in the Country, too far away for you but will just give you an idea of the lowest that bike could sell for. Yours doesn't sound like a bad price.

That's not a bad price at all. I rattled and negotiated for three days with the dealer to get mine for 4500 out the door. I think you'll be very happy with the 4x2.

WOW, only if that place in Mississippi delivered...they would have a deal $4k for a 2001!!! Well, I think I am just going to walk into the local place next weekend with $4300 in my hand and see what I can do...probably shoot for $4200 and ask that they throw in the City kit with the mirror, brake light, horn, etc. and walk away happy if I spend $4300 total OTD. Thanks for all the assistance.

Is the city kit you referred to a factory honda kit or aftermarket?

Not sure if the City kit was aftermarket or not, their parts dept. was closed Sunday and the rep was telling me about it. We have pretty lax laws here in North Idaho on four wheelers...in case anyone has not heard or read about Wallace, Idaho beig the so called four-wheeler city.

There's over a 1000 miles of trails, and all smowmobiles and ATV's are street legal, no questions asked, it's pretty cool. And as long as I stay on regular city streets here,in my city no one bothers ya. (no highway riding)
