EX came along with electric starters...sport quads only. They called the 700an XX and the 450 is called an ER, so looks like they aren't sticking to it religiously. Kind of makes sense, seeing that there isn't anyting special about electric start these days.
In the old days they called them all "Fourtrax", and the TRX is kind of an abreviation for that.
