Default no power on 05 400ex

My battery is good and when i turn the key i have no lights or no power to the starter. You can push start it and everything works when it is started. we tried jumping it from the solenoid it turned over but it was like the kill switch was off but it wasn't. I don't know what is wrong with??????????

I have wiggled and cleaned everything and nothing works. Do you think it could be a bad ignition?

Check that the fuse is not blown. The lights and starter are on the fused circuit.

That's not a good idea. Fuses are there to protect components from a power surge. When mine did this it was the fuse on the left side next to the battery. There are two slots. 1 plugged in and one for a spare. I recommend keeping a spare. I went thru tones of them.

The EX is famous for fraying/shorting wires up around the front lighting system. Check all these wires for a short that may be blowing you fuse.

If you replaced the fuse and it still didn't work, maybe you fried something when you jumped it????

I can verify that. That's exactly where my prob was. At one point I was fine as long as I didn't hit the bright lights. Once I did, BAM! popped the fuse and soon as I killed her I was changing it in the dark.

always check the spark plugs first. never hurts to clean or replace them after every season.

then try the crabs and such.

if there is a fuel filter... start there.. otherwise you are in for pulling the carb and cleaning it...once you know the carb is clean.... add a fuel filter....then see how it runs. dont forget to count the turns it takes to screw in the adjustments... good luck.

Check to see if the nuetral control switch (next to the shifter) is connected. On our 400ex, the same this happened, and the switch got disconnected. Reconnected, the neutral light came on adg the quad would start with the button.
