Default What is a good exhaust for the 450R?

I have an HRC kit in the bike (bought it that way) in a 2004 model. Down the road I'd like to get an exhaust. I want it to look good, and last. Big Gun is out of the question as the ceramic coating tends to flake off and looks like crap after one season. Considering a Yoshimura. The previous owner was raving about the Duncan Exhaust. Is there any that are durable.. stainless and perform well? Any feed back, much appriciated!

The fastest 450R I know, has the HRC and the uncorked stock exhaust. Nothing sexy about that stocker, but you are probably just throwing away your money on aftermarket!

If I had money to burn, I would do the FMF MegaBomb header and Q4 muffler...less sound = more ground!

Sorry recon but I am going to have to disagree with you.
I have an '04 450R, granted it's modded (Athena 480, Hotcam Stage II, ported and polish head), and I used to have the uncorked exhaust.
I then went to a FMF Q2, the end cap kept rattling out the rivets so I changed to a Yosh full system.
I absolutely love it!
It made alot of difference in the power gains and with the quiet core I am able to ride the Oregon dunes that have a 93db limit.
I would say that a good full system, like the Yoshimura, is NOT throwing your money away!

Red you obviously have more than I have done on my R. How is that Athena 480 kit? Does it hold up well? Big bores for these 450's are much reasonably priced as say Raptor or DS. I just got my HPR big bore for my DS650 and that was 1800 bucks!!

Which Yoshimura did you get? If I did any internal work it would just be a big bore and call it a day. Something to wake the bottom end up on this 450.

if you want max power, there are 3 that are all very close in making the most power and are proven, they are:

Rossier
Venom
Dasa

Venom being the quietest. I know a venom pipe is going to be on my bike in the near future.

Also, for 450r needs, I dunno if I am allowed to do this or not, but
www.trx450r.org has A LOT of info all for the 450R and I recommend it, guides on how to install different parts, info, and data, and dyno's and jetting help, very very good forum.

Gravel....what are those made out of? Again if it's ceramic coated I don't want it......gotta last. Surprised Yosh wasn't in that list of 3.

I know the Rossier and Venom are stainless, I am pretty sure Dasa is also, they come in black, I am not sure if that is ceramic or just paint, but they do look shexy.

Entomber, I have had no trouble with my 480. I installed it over two years ago and it kicks ***!
I bought mine off eBay for $400.00! I got a real good deal and was surprised that I got it that cheap!
I have the Yoshimura TRC Pro Series Titanium complete system. I bought it from Motosport.com
I have the quiet core and it's Forest Service approved!
If you decide to go with a big bore you should also think about a Hotcam. They're easy to install and not overly expensive.
Hotcams are "drop-in" cams, you don't need to change your valves or valve springs. I went with a Stage II for top end since the 450R is already a top end engine.

I hated the sound of the Yoshi on my 450R! I like my HMF however, and would recommend it to anyone who is shopping on a budget for a full system. However, if you want top performers, also throw Sparks into the mix. Of course I would go with Rossier if I wanted all out performance, that seems to be the best out right now.
