Default 300 fourtrax rear brake problem

dad was using my honda 300 4x4 fourtrax to do some spot spraying. He started out with rear brakes but lose them. Nothing happen went trying to use rear brake. My honda was bought last november and new brakes was installed at that time by the dealer. my honda has less than 20 miles on it.
Can anyone tell me what the problem may be. Can anyone point me in the direction of a diagram of the rear brake assembly.

There are 2 things that are hard on Honda brake shoes #1 is water & #2 is bad bearings .. You will see in the picture the seal & washer the lip of the seal MUST have lots of grease on it (good waterproof grease , on mine I use a Belray marine grease) same for the seal lip on the front brake drums because that's what keeps the water out ..

Jack up the rear of the bike and watch the axle at the rear brake drum if it moves when you try lifting/wiggling the wheel/axle then the brake panel bearing is bad..

Here is the pages for the brakes which includes changing bearings..

I'll give you one hint that will really help. If when you take it apart it has mud in it you will need to clean it out. If it has any mud and dirt in the brake drum when you put new brakes on it will only work for a few miles then the dirt breaks loose and you have no brakes anymore. Just clean the drum out till you get it down to the metal. I don't even run the rear brake anymore. I have it all in there except the brake pads to hold the rear end together.

IF theres anything other then brake dust in any of the brakes, somethign is wrong or was fixed wrong. My bike is a 1998 and the brakes work fine (with proper annual maintenance).
