Have there been any problems with Honda's power steering?

Have an 2007 foreman with ES and PS, PS light flashes intermitently along with the function of the powersteering is kinda of scary if your are not paying attention, tried cleaning connections on EPS control module no luck, any suggestions?

 

When the PS light flashes you have to count the flashes...

Most dealers don't initialize the PS when the bike is assembled ..

 

my dealer told me in 08 some foremans had bad power steering units but only on certain vin numbers the unit was cracking and they were afraid that it would pull apart and cause you to crash so they recalled those certain vin numbers in for new eps but he said that thats the only problem he has seen on the eps.i have had 2 uts with eps no problems they make riding so much easier doesnt were your arms out and takes those nasty kickbacks i will never own another utility atv without it.

 

The electric power steering system Honda uses is a downsized automotive unit from the electric hybrids. So there is a fair amount of engineering, testing, and on road use, to ensure the durability of the system. Polaris unit is also automotive dereived from Suburu. The Yamaha is an ATV specific system and does not have the "miles" behind it, not saying its a bad system.

The flashes seem to be random varying in speed and frequency, how is the ps initialized?
