700xx honda

Read last night that Suzuki is going with a "curb" or wet weight, as well as Honda!
Also, the Z400 is getting fuel injection!!! So, does Honda have to counter with FI for the 400EX???

Sport Quad magazine (Sep issue) just had a big bore Sport Quad shootout in the desert of Arizona and the 700xx came in 2nd to last of five machines! jfyi</end quote></div>
The thing is, it's just stupid to include this machine in a "big bore" shootout, when it isn't really a "regular" sport quad....it's a specialty machine!
Just because some machines have the same displacement, doesn's mean they have the same frames or were ever intended to handle similarly. The Rhino is a 700, we going to shoot it out against it just because they are both 700 big bores???

I totaly agree with you but Honda better stop trying to display the 700xx as king of the hill. Besides what else are they going to compare it too?

The weight difference is actually more like 75 pounds not the popular misconception that it is only 40ish.
Personally I wish all makers HAD to list curb weight it is just a better more accurate discription of the machines.
the kick started 450r had a listed dry weight of 350lb give or take and now a wet weight of 383 for a difference of about 33lb of fluids
rap= 396 dry+24lb fuel(2.9 gal)+4lb oil+10 coolant=434lb wet(38lb of fluids)
XX=508 wet
That is a 74lb difference .. These numbers are appoximations but you can see that they must be closser than the common 40 pound speculation. I'm in no position to point and say fat...my machine is 516DRY. I just think if someone is seriously concidering a new machine they should be entitle to the most accurate comparison possible.

Shoot outs are kind of funny any way. Just like the 450 shoot outs where they repeatedly come of like the 49 or 50 inch width renders the LTR COMPLETELY unridable in the woods. That is just silly......there is a huge difference between having to choose your lines more wisely and totally unridable.
