I just got one about 2 weeks ago and its really good. Ind. suspension is amazing and fuel injection is great and it also rips too i also have a 450r with over 2000 into the engine and it beats that so its pretty cool and its got really good power through mud and everything for being 2wd.

There are couple of posts on this recently, so if you do a search you should turn them up. Every magazine has test ridden it as well, so look for those reviews.
I see the XX as a specialized niche machine for those who ride rocky and/or rutted trails, but who don't quite need a 4wd. For any other kind of riding, I think there are way better choices already out there.
To put it another way, I don't see it as an all-around machine, and that is the kind of quad most riders actually need. One of the magazines did say that it is a shame to make a sport quad that weighs 500+ pounds, and I sure have to agree there!

What type of terrain do you specifically ride???
I have a Honda 450R which is superb for open desert, but it is geared tall and likes to run (goes 25 mph at idle in 1st gear), so it isn't the hot setup for trail riding.
The 400EX has a torquey bottom end and will lug down, so it is an absolutely superb trail quad where 4wd isn't required (gets my vote for best trail quad of all time)!!! I just put it in 1st gear, and idle through the semi-technical stuff.
For the mountains, where the riding is technical and the rocks are big and the stream crossings are deep, I have a Rancher 420 4X4.
So, for where I ride, I just don't see where the XX would ever fit! I would never want a 500 pound IRS machine in the open desert! I would never want a 500 pound machine on a trail either for that matter (I would take IRS, but not at that weight penalty!). And in the mountains, I need 4X4 which the XX doesn't hav. It just doesn't fit anywhere for me.......
The great all-around machines (assuming you don't need 4X4) are the 400EX, Z400, and Raptor 700. Got to say that if I had to own only one machine that had to do it all, it would be the 400EX...hands down!

And what would be the point in encouraging him to buy a quad that is poorly suited to his riding conditions???? Most trail riders will be better off on a 400EX, and open country riders will be better off on a 450R. If all one rides is rocky rutted trails (sucks for you if that's true!), then the XX is made for you.....
