Default 300ex Mods / airbox ?'s

Hello, I was wondering what kind of stuff
is done to a 300ex to make it a better trail machine?

My 300 is a 99, it has nerf bars, fly handlebars, cobra header / exhaust,
k&n jet kit.

I was thinking about putting in a uni air filter, and some type of
air box vents... either that thunder products lowboy that you can open and close,
or the outwears mesh airbox lid.

Will either of these require re-jetting ? my quad has the exhaust and the jet kit,
so Im thinking it probably wants more air.

What about the UFO and the dial a jet?

I was thinking about dropping a tooth or two on the front sprocket, but I
want my first gear to be usefull.

Any good cams for all around power, or at least one that doesnt rob from the
low end?

Im not looking to bore it out yet and put in a wiseco,

what else is there?

Something not engine related that will make a difference is the suspension, go on ebay and find 400ex a arms and front shocks, that will widen your front end and give you almost double the suspension travel over stock, if you can find a 2001 Raptor shock(has to be 2001, remote rezzy is the only one that will fit) or even a Warrior rear shock is an upgrade from the stock set up. Then put spacers on the back or get a wider axle, and you will have a much more stable, smoother riding quad that will run faster through the rough spots, corner better, and jump farther without bottoming. As far as the engine, look for a rev box +1000 rpm, I've found that opening up the intake or exhaust on a Honda makes you hit the rev limit a lot sooner, you will be able to wind out each gear more with a rev box.

Yes, all things 300EX i will consider, not just engine mods.

If i put 400EX A arms on my quad, can I put 450R front shocks on?

What other rear shocks fit a stock 300ex?

400ex? 450R?

Do i need to do anything to the swingarm?

If i put just a rear shock from one of these, or a raptor in,
and leave the rest alone, will the quad sit funny?

Will these shocks from heavier machines ride stiff on the 300ex?
They can ll be adjusted right?

I like the EHS Racing lids, with Outerwears. I like that better than just pulling the lid off. And, a UNI foam air filter.

You will need a rejet....but there is little sense doing the intake without doing the exhaust as well! The stock header on the 300EX is pathetic! I would get an FMF header and PowerCore 4 muffler.....

It's an excellent trail machine already (maybe the best there is?)! I would get some better tires (I like ITP Holeshot XC's). At trail speeds, I don't think you need to mess with the suspension, but if you do, I like WorksPerformance.

psst, i already have a cobra exhaust and header, and a stage 1 jet kit to match.
With the air lid on (and a dirty stock air filter) it ran pretty strong, i took the lid off, and it runs a bit stronger and sounds nice, it doesnt run funky at all, even better than
with the lid on... i figure it needed the extra air with the exhaust and jet kit

Any other ideas?
also how can I make the bike feel a little bigger....
I am by no means tall, im 5 8'
I guess im used to the scrammy, but I just feel like everything is a little up close and personal

I tiled my handle bars up and adjusted the clutch and brake levers and throttle to where i find them more comfy, this helped..

is there any better aftermarket seats? a way to raise the handlebars up a little? anything im not thinking of?
