backfire when i let off the throttle
#1
I finally got the electrical issue solved and my quad is finally running really good. I rebuilt the carb and set everything to factor spec's. The only issue i have now is if i let off the throttle from a mid range rpm or higher the exhaust will pop and backfire. What adjustment to i need to make on the carb?

Deceleration backfire indicates a lean condition! If you are sure the jets are all clean, then the fuel screw might help. If not, you may need to jet up a little.

The popping/backfire is coming out the exhaust. Which way is which for the fuel air mixture screw, i can never remember. All of the jets are clean, this was the third cleaning and i double checked all the holes. Thanks for the help everyone.

Not sure on the Honda ATV's. Some are fuel screws, by turning them out you increase fuel (richer), on others it is an air screw, by turning them out you increase air (leaner) or vice versa. Have I got you confused now.
Maybe someone will chime in and say if it is an air screw or fuel screw.

on an atv turn mixturen screw out to richen and in to lean out as far as deceleration back fire it is from unburnt fuel in the exhaust which is a sign of being rich but some lite poping is normal
