350xx or built 250x(330ex) or wait?
#1
I am wondering what to do with my quad. I have a stock 87 250x. Do u think i should invest money into it. Like wrok shocks and a built motor(the equivelent to 330ex) or wait and get a 250r or 400ex. I also though about the 350xx conversion. I want a high reving 4-stroke. I am on a limited budget so a 400ex is out of the question now. I would like to trick out my 250x because not everyone has one. I also would ahve to wait a year or moreto get a new quad. DOES ANYONE HAVE A BUILT 250X MOTOR SIMILIAR TO A 330KIT FOR A 300EX?
thanks for any info or opinions you could give me

for the 250X i don't know much about doing a 330 on it.
A good built 330EX will kill a midly modded 400ex everywhere. Once they get into 416s 426 and 440s you are dead again. Time for a stroker crank and a 352cc! But then again you won't be dead either.
I'm happy with my decision to build up my 300ex.
But, it isn't cheap, motor work is around 1,250 for everything.
Suspension mods, 500 for fronts(triples with cans) 600 for ultra cross rear.
500 for a-arms, 350 for axle.
Unless you do what i did and do 400ex a-arms and shocks up front, thats about 450 for everything
But you are right you can be different everywhere, built up 300exs and 250Xs aren't all over. At least around here. And the forums i think there are like 5 to the million and 1 400ex owners

Hey Aaron,
How's that 330 coming along. I'm waiting too see some updated pics on your website(which is great).
Right now, I sent my topend off too LRD for some more work. I'm getting larger +2mm intake and exhaust valves installed. Along with matched head porting for my new 400EX carb, cut valve seats, hardened rocker arms and valve guides, and new LRD race cam. I'm also intalling a 350X airboot between the airbox and the carb for increased airflow. With rear wheel HP on my 330 approching 40. I don't think I will have a problem with ANY other 4-stroke.

Cstark:
I'm still waiting for my stuff back from FST! I'm almost there. I sent it out last week about 3 weeks left. I can't wait to get it back together.
I do have some updated pictures with the plastic mounted on it. Go here
http://www.envy.nu/xc330ex/updated.html
3 pictures. Front, Back, Then on End
it is all together but without the motor. I did that so i could make my plastic mount, which turned out good. I am going to shave off my fenders soon.

Well so far I have about $1700 in mods to my 87 X and haven't started on the engine yet. Also, I still need to get a rear shock....
I talked to TC a few weeks ago and he didn't seem to enthused(sp?) about building a 250X engine and seemed to lean a little more towards a 400ex. However, he can build it up to a 406cc and he said a few years back he was building a 250cc with 50HP!!!
I would like to ride a 250cc with 50HP, I bet that thing would scream!
Also, a 350x conversion would be nice too!

Yo bro,I've got a 250x/350x. Anyone that has a 250x knows how underpowered it is. With the 350x engine(10.25/1 wisco)its the diffeance between night and day!! The conversion is easy and the engine looks right at home. A company called Powroll out of Oregon sells the kit(3 bushings, rewire of the cdi box connectors and the exhaust system). If you need help, let me know. My bikes up for sale for $2500 because my wife said I had to sell it or the sandrail. Women, they just don't understand....
