300ex WEIRD starter Issue
#1
Ok, tell me what you guys think about this.
I was riding around saturday with a few guys, we were riding for a few hours, came back, let the bikes cool off, cleaned them off, took a break, than we went riding again.
This time down a really slow and technical trail.
I stalled the 300ex in first a few times climbing rocks, after a few stalls,
I started it back up and heard this terrible noise!~
I turned it off, and the starter is still going!
I turn off the key, its still going!
I pop the seat and pull the fuse
ITS STILL GOING.
Finally I disconnect the battery and it stops.
We let it sit a few mins, reconnect the battery, and it does it again.
So, we disconnect it again,
I take apart the starter / killstiwch light thing on the bars, it looks fine, but i push on it and blow into it just to be sure, i massage all the wires, Played with the wires near the starter relay, and hook everything back up...
starter was working fine from then on out.
ANY IDEAS?
I cant have this happen again, if it didnt miraculously start working again, i would of
been up **** creek, as i was with other sport quads, and no way i was getting towed out of that trail.
Thanks!

Sounds like the contacts in the starter silenoid are sticking/hanging up. Option 2 is there is a 12volt source shorting on the signal wire to the silenoid. Look for a short to the signal wire, if that checks out ok, replace the silenoid.
