Default 400 ex is ticking!

I have a 2007 400ex that is only 2 months old. I put a stage 2 jet in it, k@n filter outerwear, running no air box lid. I just got done installing a stage 2 hot cam. After installing this cam it seems to be ticking more than ever. I followed to proper break in procedure, but I'm unsure what the valve clearance should be. Online I found installation instruction for the hot cam with pics. I followed this exactly. They recommended that the valve clearance should be .05 and .06. With these setting it really ticked bad. So I put the valves back to .04 and .05, it still ticked but not as bad. Before I installed the hot cam, it didn't tick this bad. Is this normal when installing a hot cam, or is something wrong?

Default 400 ex is ticking!

My 2003 400 ticked before the stage 2 hot cam and it still does. My wife's 400 a year newer bone stock doesn't tick. I've taken mine in twice to the shop to have the valves adjusted and they said everything looked good. The second time they checked the timing chain to make that wasn't slapping up against the cyclinder wall. Agian they found nothing it's been 2 years and the bike still runs great. I've heard other 400's tick and some that don't. Check you tube you'll find vidoes of 400 owners recording there bike's ticking.
