Default 4wd light blinks

Need a little help if anyone knows the answer. My 4wd light blinks 2 times after getting up to about 10 or 15 mph. Even with selector in 2wd. 4wd wont work. Turn off key and back on it resets then does it again. Any help appreciated.

2 blinks is a fault for the "Front VS sensor". check the 3 pini black connector under the left front fender for water or corrosion. I have a manual, but no way to copy the pin point test. one of the techs on here posts the pinpoint tests, just wait and they'll do it.

thanks a million to both of you. I think that has got it. The connector was pretty wet inside. It seems clean enough but it was wet blew it out with air and reconnected. I have it jacked up in the garage and ran it in 4wd up to about 20 mph and no blinks. I will put the inner fender back on the morning and road test. Thanks again.

Leave the connector apart to fully air dry, then pick up a tube of di-electric grease from an auto parts store and apply it to both sides of the connector with a toothbrush.

This will keep water from getting back in there. While your at it, grease all the other electrical connectors including the coil and the spark plug boot while your at it to prevent future troubles. I did mine in 1998 when my bike was new and checked them all this year. No water, no corrosion and no electrical troubles.

I will do that. when i first got it I had a electric shift problem and the mechanic at my dealer found water in a connector and put grease in it. no problem there since. these things should probably come from factory with the connectors loaded with grease.

thanks

I agree, they have seals on some, but the dielectric grease sure saves alot of headaches.
