Capita, I don't foresee myself getting into any situations where I will need a winch...course now that I say that, I will need one next week or something. When I give this to my wife and I get a bigger one for me, I will put a winch on that one...good suggestion.

I paid 4199 I believe...it would have been 3999, but I wanted the display and that meant I had to get the ESP...so if you don't need the odo/speedo, then it should be under 4k...plus it is an 07...I know they aren't different than an 08, so I don't know if the prices are different. Plus, until the 23rd I believe, Honda has the good interest rates...it is almost a no-brainer. Thanks for the backfiring warning....

I am definitely going to get a bag w/seat combo...the wife will be riding we me sometimes. Any seat bag a preference with anyone? As far as tires go, are there ones that are better for mainly street driving like this one will be doing?

I love that retro blue color! My buddy has an old 300 in blue, and I love it.

There are several posts for new owner's on break-in, early oil changes, valve adjustments, etc., in here, so I would search them out if you want some good info. (Try searching "Rancher 420" to start with.)

As far as a seat/bag, I'm not too big on two-up riding on a machine not built for it, though I've done it on level ground at low speed.

Whatever bag you get, I'd highly recommend getting one without zippers. Dust tends to waft along the back of the quad when at speed, and it clogs zippers. Mad Dog and Tamarack both seem to make high quality stuff.

Tire wise, I presonally feel the snappy and sporty handling are the biggest asset of the Rancher, so personally I would only go big mud tires if you are mostly going to ride big mud. Otherwise, if you are doing trail and technical riding with some mud and snow, maybe a moderate 25" radial would work well, say Big Horns or Terra Cross.

Jeffin,

Thanks for the advice. I am not a huge fan of doing the 2-up riding in a non 2-up bike, but I will be on flat surfaces and taking it easy...it will not go on trails with someone with me.

As for the bag, good pt on the zippers. How bout Kimpex?...they are lockable too aren't they?

I don't know enough about the tires to determine whether I should get any aftermarkets...especially for what I will be doing with this quad...which isn't a whole lot more than street riding. If there is a tire that will potentially help with gas mileage, that is what my preference is.
