The main problem with riding 2 up on a 420 is that the second person pretty much has to sit on the battery. There is a thin piece of hard plastic between where the 2nd person sits and the battery and all the electronics. Its really not designed well for riding with a passenger at all.

As for gear, I would say replace the factory skid plates and get a winch. I havent had a lot of times where I needed the winch, but when you do need it comes in REAL handy.

So are you saying that with a seat it may do damage to the battery/plastic? I know it isn't designed, but with a seat isn't it?

Also can you give me a link to the skid plates?

Thanks,

I have this skidplate on mine: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...rdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

Installation was fairly easy.

As for riding double with a seat, I guess it all depends on the seat and where it rides on the battery cover. I have ridden with passengers without a problem, I just never really felt totally comfortable about the battery/passenger situation.

Hi Coach,

There a nice machine. I have 120 miles on mine now. I too ride double with my wife. I see no problem in that as I do 15mph tops then slow down for a crawl for a couple hours. Were trying different types of rear seats now to find out what's comfortable for her.

I ride on decomposed granite and sand, like pea gravel on the losse stuff. The rocks are fairly slick because of the loose stuff. No water or mud here other one day of the year. With the factory tires set too 3psi fronts, 3.25psi rears, I never loose traction when riding single or double.

I've added a mirror on my front rack as I ride 5 miles of county road to get to my riding spot. Another good add on was a thumb extension. I really like that as it slightly slows down the throttle action and removes the jerking motion of slow speed riding.

I'm still not happy with my HB viberation even after changing to foam grips. I'm going to try gel gloves next and if that don't help, gel grips is next on the list.

T_Bone,

How about what you use for foot pegs...I assume you have to buy those seperately from the seat...if so are there good combinations.

Hi Coach,

I'm not using any additional foot pegs for her at this time as I want to get the seat detail worked out then I'll take some 1/4"x2" flatbar and make a set of padded rails attached to the rear rack down to new flip up foot pegs.

Hi Coach,

It's called Thumbuddy made by All Rite Products. It uses zip ties to attach to the existing throttle which I thought would be kinda hookie but it's not that bad and stays in place without any movement. You can form it too suit your riding style by bending it with your hands, rubber over steel.

My son liked it better than what he bought.
