Which Winch?
#1
Hello all,....
looking for guidance, direction, opinions, and info on your postitives/negative experiences as to which winch I should get for a 400 AT.
The machine is used on the farm and will be used by my wife also. She's technically competent, but I want to keep things simple and straightforward. We justified the purchase of the ATV as something we'd use 75% on the farm so we think the winch would be a good addition.
So, here're my questions (please keep in mind that we don't have a monster ATV, and we don't have to stretch it's limits since we have plenty of tractors and trucks to do the heavy pulling).....
Thanks in advance,

I'd also recommend Warn. Synthetic rope is nice because it's lighter, you won't have the broken strand to slice your hand like steel, it will work better with a plow, and I think it is somewhat less likley to rip your head off if you should snap it.
The wireless remote is also handy when recovering yourself in deep snow or muck, since it saves you a trip slogging back and forth from the ATV to the ancor point.
The XT30 is expensive, but it would be more expensive to add the wireless to the XT25. The 400AT may have a battery on the small end for the XT30, but you would be unlikely to run the thing at it's full rated pulling power very often, or for very long.
Mount plate wise, I used a Warn on the Foreman and a KFI on the Rincon. The KFI seems to be quite high quality, and is quite a bit cheaper.
If money isn't an object, you could consider one of the Montana Jack's multi-mount kits...
