Default Reserve Tank Question

Newb question here so beware...

I am going to assume that when I fill my tank that I am also filling (assuming I use it up) the reserve tank as well. Or do I actually have to switch to reserve then fill IT up. I asked my dealer about it (he was new) and he said it just fills up when you fill the tank up...is this true? If so, what happens to the needle on the tank guage when you go to reserve...does the needle move or does it say empty? Thanks for any advice...

Default Reserve Tank Question

It's all the same tank. The fuel petcock has a tube on it that extends into the tank. When set to run it draws fuel from that tube, so that there is some fuel remaining in the bottom of the tank when it runs out, which can then be used when you switch the valve to reserve.
