04 foreman help
#1
i bought a used foreman. the guy told me he had the top end rebuilt and it ran for awhile and then quit. so i started with checkin valve clearance. first thing i noticed was i could not get the timing marks and valves to match.(when the "T" was in the window the exhaust valve had already started to open). so after i kept messing with it i noticed there was no gas on spark plug. so i took the air filter off, gonna spray some startin fluid in there. well with the filter off and you turn motor over its blowing the compression out thru the carb. has it jumped time and if so how hard is that to fix? thanks.

it sounds like it jumped timing its not hard to change just unbolt the front diff pull the driveshaft stand the bike up on the rack tie it off so it doesnt fall on you then remove the front engine cover a book would help

when i get in there, is there a key or something that sheared? they don't have a book at my local shop so i got to order one. and if it's a key i'd like to take a chance and go ahead and order it too. thanks

oh, i didn't know it had a timing chain, since the cam is in bottom of engine. thanks for that info. now let me ask you this, can i get the tensior off without taking the head and jug off?

On a TRX450 we replace the cam chain with the bike on the rear wheels & rear rack .. If you do it on it's wheels whatever you do don't remove the camshaft itself or the lifter/s could drop inside the crankcase and the cases would have to be split to remove them ..
