Yes i did that aswell........
Kinda weird why i lost or burned oil..........
Dont see any oil leaks either.......
should a new bike not use a bit of oil during breakin?

When you check the oil be sure to let it run (idle) for like 3 minutes, then let it stand for like 2 minutes.
As far as it having lost a little during break-in, I wouldn't worry about it. It could have burned some before the rings got seated.
If I were you, I'd just keep an eye on the oil level after the first change.

From what i think..........
The brave wave at the dealer filled it up a about a litre short from the start!!!!
I did the first oil change today and cant believe how much of a difference in sound there is..........much much less engine noise!!!
I will bet my eye's on it the goof that put the oil in it made a mistake!!! He was a complete fool when i talked to him...........didnt know FA about the bike.
Im calling HONDA on monday and see what they say about it. I want a new bike outa the deal......
Lets see what happpens.......
won a very simualar deal with polaris a few years back.........

It was down oil for sure using that method.....
Engine was hot the very first time i checked it and it was showing full......
Manual says if engine is to hot you will get a false reading....
I did do the method posted above and thats how i found it to be down oil.
Got winch 90% on today and will finish tommorow and triple check that when i changed the oil that i have the level right....
Sure is a big difference in engine noise for sure now though..........And that does worry me that i may have put 200k on this machine with not enough oil in it.
Another thing i learned from reading the above post is the kid said to just ignore the smell of the anti rust coat burning off??? Calling dealer in morning and see what they have to say about the hole situation...
Will keep ya posted.

OK after a few days of back and forth with local dealer and dealer i bought this machine from.............
The story is all is fine ??????
Im still unsure about the oil level readings myself......
If i do as manual says for checking oil i get a low reading....
If i give it just a few short revs then let idle for 3 or 4 mins and check its fine....
Weird eh.....
They both tell me that this machine is know for giving readings all over the map and both say "if you have oil on the dip stick.........you fine but should be in between the marks"
Im lost....... i have checked it 500 times in two days and get different reading every time.........
Anyone got any idea's at all?

From the manual "do not snap the throttle while the engine is idling or the oil reading will be inaccurate".
As long as the thing wasn't low by a couple quarts or something, I doubt being a touch low would have harmed the machine in any way.
Be sure to have the valves adjusted if you didn't when you did the first oil change. It wouldn't hurt to check the oil in the axles, too. Sometimes they come a bit low.

Yes, when the throttle is snapped before oil check, oil quanity will read low because the oil pump leaves oil up in the top end that has not drained into the sump
Rule of thumb, checking oil on Rubicons is before start-up (setting all night) pull the dipdtick and oil level should read on the lower check level reading area of the dipstick. After running the engine and oil is checked, read from the upper level.
I have had people go out in the morning, pull the dipstick and see it at the lower oil level on the dipstick, dump a quart of oul in the engine then drive it. The quart of oil will end up in the airbox as crankase pressure from the piston moving downward will push the oil through the crank breather hose into the airbox.
Result thinking is the quad is using oil, which it is not, just overfull
These units have a dry sump type oil system unlike a car which is wet sump so checking oil has different proceedures to follow
