Honda to stop producing 2-stroke bikes

I don't know if this is true, but I saw it on another site:
"Honda leads the motorcycle industry on other fronts as well. As the world's leader in four-stroke technology, Honda is committed to producing motorcycles, scooters and ATVs that utilize low emission, fuel efficient four-stroke engine designs.
Further to this pledge, American Honda announced today that beginning with the 2002 model year, Honda would only mass-produce four-stroke powered on and off road motorcycles, ATVs and scooters for the US market."
"Honda is, above all, an engine company," said Blank. "Our four-stroke engine designs will set new industry standards for quiet, efficient, power. And four-strokes are a responsible answer to environmental issues."

Does that mean Honda will not be in the motocross business anymore? If you read this it sounds like 125s will only be racing 125s and 250s will only be racing 250c no matter what stroke the motor is if the race fans get there way.

Honda will still produce their CR dirt bike line. Crs are not on road or off road motorcycles but close corse motorcross bikes. It is still a few years off before motorcross bikes are stopped.
I think yamaha is on the right tracking making the YZf250. But i think one day 4 strokes will have the same power of a 2 stroke of the same displacement

The way that Honda worded the statement, the CR's will not be made next year. They used the words "mass producted models will only be 4-strokes". From that the cr line will be stopped or it will be made only on a limited numbers. Also, if you read deaper this means that they must be working on some kind of 4-stroke to compete with the Yam 250F.
I was told last year and have just read this week that Yam is working on putting the 250F engine into a quad. If Yam makes the 250F work in a quad, what happens to the Blaster? Bye,Bye, or ?
Just something to think about when tring to sleep at night.

The CR dirtbikes are not "mass produced" and are designated "closed course" machines.Honda played with words to make it sound good to greenies. The CR will be around for a long time. The YZ250F will not be put in a blaster, why would Yam take a very high tech expensive motor and put it in a Blaster? Its ridiculous to suggest that.
