I have been usually using honda replacement air fliters and I always reused the factory metal insert. I decides to try and aftermaket fliter and was wondering should I still use the factory metal insert?

 

A lot of the UNI filters I have used, come with their own insert that is way less restrictive than the stock insert. One thing I have found with these, is that the collar will eventually bend and collapse under the stress of the band, so don't make the band overly tight and replace them when they get to warped.

If an aftermarket filter does not come with its own insert, then you are stuck using the restrictve stock one....

 

Mine is a Moose racing filter. It didnt come with any so I guess Ill put the stock one in it.

That stock insert is so restrictive one might need a rejet after removing it, especially seeing that everything already gets jetted lean at the factory to meet emissions.

 

On my 250x. Its all stock.
