looking for a rancher 420 locker

Never felt like I needed lockers, even in the snow. The torque sensing differential works fine, if you know to tap the front brake and reset it in situations where there you have no traction on either wheel (like snow).
My buddies with their big bore feature laden locker equipped IRS 800 pound $10,000 quads, aren't going anywhere I can't go on my Rancher!

why would you buy a 420 rancher to run through deep mud boggs anyway, there a great trail quad, size, power, ive never needed a locker, ive been up some steep side canyons, in the winter, but if i wanted to drag race 3 miles an hour through a waiste deep mudbogg, rockin my quad back and forth, id buy a big bore with a locker, just the only situation i see there a need for. i dont think the hondas are really marketed and built for that sport.

I have a locker in my Foreman but it sees alot of mud, bog and technical trails where a locker is needed. I went with a spool because its cheap and I dont mind the increased effort in steering...I also have a WARN 424 which helps alot in reducing the heavier steering.
Detroil Locker makes ATV lockers, they are great and do not interfere with steering nearly as bad as a spool. I beleive Highlifter.com sells both.

the reason i didnt get a big bore is because i really have no need for them, i would like the locker because the only time i am in 4wheel drive is when i am in the mud or pulling heavy things like trees, the 420 has plenty of power i wish it had the first gear that my 350d has cause that is just a stump pulling gear, i just wouldent mind a locker up there for the extra traction, but i will try what reconranger said next time i am out

I can see why you would want a locker if you ride in a lot of mud but for pulling logs and things, you really don't need one. As long as all four wheels are on the ground, all four of them are going to spin. At least that is how my Rubicon is.

If both front wheels have equal amounts of traction, all 4 will work and work well with trax lock. Its when one front wheel has Signifantly less traction then the other that Trax Lock cant keep up and a true locker will work better. This happens alot in mud, but tangly dry trails and climbing stuff is where a locker is really handy.

the thing is when i get into a mud hole and one tire gets off the ground that is the one spinning and the one on the ground is not moving at all and that just gets in my craw, it should be the other way around or like my old mud truck just spin all 4 until the wheels, i would like it to be like a truck locker when you get on it it locks when your not on it your still in 4 wheel just not locked
