Yeah the 250R is cheaper to rebuild, but you'll never have to rebuild the 400ex.

Go for the "R" If for nothing else the aftermarket shocks are the only way to go. It will have the power you want. especially if you add a 310 big bore like mine.

How does your 310 compare to the 330 kits available? Is it worth the extra cash for the 20 cc? Also, who's kit are you using? My 88 is stock w/FMF Fatty pipe. It is pretty fast and will pull a piped Banshee if they are not on top of their launch. I am looking at getting some more power. Thanks.

We have 2 R's at my house, both set up the same, have wide power bands due to the set up and they ride almost like a 4stroke, but, when you want power NOW! they have it NOW!
The R weighs in at only 340lbs or so, much lighter than the EX. Parts/mods up the yingyang are available for whatever you want to do to it.
Get the R. Get the best. Don't ever wonder what you're missing out on!

I agree if your going to strictly race get the r but if you plan on riding in the woods at all get the ex much better low end instead of keeping those damn two strokes in the power band and you wont be fogging for mosquitos either ha ha ha
