Recently our fourtrax stopped shifting into reverse, we checked the cable and everything is fine on that end.

It also still shifts up with no problems from 1st to 5th gear and back down to 1st again, it's just reverse that there's a problem with.

Does anybody know what the problem may be?

ES or foot shift????

Cable? Do you mean the cable from the brake where you have to push the little red button???

it's the ES model, and ya the cable where the reb button connects, just below the brake cable, is fine. It engages when you push the red button, but then when you hit the downshift button, nothing happens.

hmm, so you don't know of anything that we could do to fix it?
we've been playing around all morning and can't seem to find anything wrong, electrical is all fine, cable is fine, clutch is fine, yet no reverse

The reverse wire is off the reverse switch .. The reverse switch is at the bottom rear beside the reverse lock-out cable/lever ...

its like hondamechanic said , check the reverse wire is pluged in and if it is then adjust the cable. the cables do strech sometimes. as far as everyone bashin on es models , if u cant do regular checkups then learn how , my well greased 350 es 4x4 has never let me down
