250R w/ LT500 engine or CR500 engine???

I am trying to figure out what to do with my 250R project. It will definately be a 2 stroke and I was originally just going to put a 250R engine in with a little work. But then I got to thinking...
I really like the 500 Quadracers. I have wanted one of those things since they came out, but never bought one. However they are big. I thought it would be nice ot have the 250R chassis and suspension with the 500 engine. But then I wouldn't have a true Honda and that is one of the reasons that held me away from buying the 500(because it was a Suzuki)..
Would an LT500 engine in a 250R chassis be a stupid move or would it be cool? Also, would it be better ot go with a CR500 engine? I heard bad things about the bike engines not having a counter balancer and getting bad vibes because of that..
I saw on here or another board that there was a guy that did a 250R with a CR500 engine. Anyone know who this is??
Any suggestions or comments???
Thanks

i seen a 250R with an LT500 engine in it.
I didn't see it run, but i seen it sitting at the local polaris shop. This thing is awesome!
he is selling it for 8k, has a full laeger chassis and everything. I was high impressed

The 500CR engine is more powerful (65 crank hp), and you'll find more parts than the LT500. I'm thinking about doing this myself...dunno when though. The vibration thing is a "problem" that can be overpassed with antivibe engine mounts and antivibe steering stem. All cars have antivibe engine mounts, the 400 scram has...it would work great.
I really don't see any advantage of using a LT500 engine. Different make (different dealer to get parts), old...well, the CR isn't really new either, nad you'll have to do modification for both engines, and the CR is more powerful (the 500KX being even a little more powerful).
I'd say go with the CR500...post pics!!

I have heard that the LT500 motors are not very reliable although that is only by word of mouth. I do know for a fact, however, that the CR500 motor is VERY reliable.
Vibration is a serious problem when running an open motor. I owned a KX 500 back in 98 and it would literally vibrate your teeth out. My hands would be numb within one lap on that bike and it was a two wheeler - I have heard the problem is even more evident on a quad. Maybe those anti-vibe motor mounts would work - I have no experience with them.
Also, to a redneck like me, putting a Suzuki motor in a Honda is like putting a Ford motor in a Chevy: sacriligious!

Well if you are going to do it right get an LSR chasis that is designed for this motor. Why not a 330, 350 or 425 kit for the 250R. I have researched this cr500 conversion. They all vibrate really bad and crack frames. Just do a 330 kit> i mean how fast do u realy want to go. I see alot of people bragging oh i have a 440 long rod banshee or i have a 410R how much of this power are you really gong to need or use. Sure it is nice to have a big bmotor but think about the upkeep on a stock 250r frame. It will crack and if the pipe is not installed correctly it will also crack. Dont say i didnt warn you.

No way would i use the LT engine over the CR. The Cr is stronger(about 62hp or so), more reliable, and parts are more redialy available. There is nothing at all wrong with the Lt engine(I owned a 90 Quadzilla myself)But there is also no advantage to putting it in the 250 frame, im sure it will cost a lot more, and you will have to rig everything. The CR swap has been done many times, and im sure more people know how to do it, you would be on your own with the LT engine. I do hear that vibration is a problem though, but im sure that can be cured by the clever use of engine mounts that are padded and so forth.

Well, I have always wanted a 500 Quadracer, but I thought it would be sweeter if I got a 250R with a 500 engine in it since it has a lot better suspension.
I just buy a quadracer, but I cant bring myself to buy a Suzuki....
One of the things I was planning on doing was use this frame('88 250R) for a year or two and then go with an LSR or Arens frame. I bought this one pretty cheap and just panned on using it to get my project started and off the ground...
So, as long as the frame lasted a year or two, i would be doing good. And the way my schedule is lately, I am lucky if I get to ride 2 times a month in the summer...
Thanks..
