PRM skip plate and a-arm guards
#1
does anybody have both of these products? I know i'm going to order the belly plate but what about the a-arm guards??? They have a note ot the bottom of the page that says that the a-arm guards wrap up to porvide some protection for CV boots. How much is "some" protection? Should i just pick up a set of oxlites or will the PRM's surfice? there are pics of the plates on the PRM website. And they appear to offer excellent protection but pictures can be deseiving.
Please help me QUICK!!!! I need to order ASAP!!!
thanks

Cartman,
Currently there is a PRM skid plate on our Rancher & Recon. One suggestion if you order one make SURE they include instructions. The reason is you need to slightly bend the skid plate to make it fit underneath your factory bash plate (front).
The CV protectors are Oxlite, they work very well. The Oxlites are steel & the PRM are aluminum. The Oxlites were purchased before finding out about PRM products, otherwise I would have ordered it all from PRM, the CV protectors & skid plate from them.
Once you get a skid plate you will be amazed at the number of things you here hitting the bottom of it!

hey absrio,
i also thought about going with a plastic skip plate. In fact i could have gotten a real sweet deal on a Miaer (about 25-30 bucks). But then i started thinking about it.....it's plastic. hit a big rock real hard and CRACK!!!!! Espesially if it's cold. My concerns about the plastic guards may be unfounded but I didn't want to buy something that i may not have been happy with......even if it was cheap.
Snowshark,
PRM emailed me about the a-arm guards and said that they may not what i am looking for. I asked them exaclly how much CV protection they offered. They weren't much help but they did tell me i could order direct from them and not go to my rapist.....i mean dealer
thankx for the quick help guys
I need to know how much protection they offer!!! please, if it's minimal then i will go with the Oxlites

I have both PRM a-arm and skid plate. the A-arm covers give pretty good protection of the CV joints and they fit like a glove. I did have problems with the belly plate. I had to open up two holes to make it fit right. I question if they gave me the right one for my quad. You do have to do some customizing to get the skid plate to fit under the factory brush plate. Its not hard if you have a vise just bend the bottom flange so it's almost flat and it makes a nice seamless fit over the skid plate.

I have only the skid plate , but it has been worth it's weight in gold.
I posted this before ... When mounting the skid plate - start with the front 2 bolts and work your way back. just get your bolts engaged, all the way to the back - then go and tighten them all. It took about an hour on my machine , and I was cussing PRM for sending me the wrong plate. However in my case it was installers error! On my wifes machine it only took 20 minutes and was a breeze.
You will have to do some minor altering of the bash plate...not a big deal. I think PRM makes a good product> it's the thickest aluminum one out there . Good luck

Another place to get good quality A-arm guards is www.aluminumproducts.com. They make some very nice products. I have their A-arm guards on both my quads. They look awesome too. I have pictures of them on my site. I was looking at the prm stuff today and emailed them about a Rubicon skid plate. How thick are they?
