We have used all types of tires on our race quads. The holeshots will give you the best traction because it is a soft compound, but it will wear fast. The shredders is like the holeshot but has a harder compound rubber. Razer's has a very hard compound and will last a very long time. But, it does not work very well in the mud. If your riding area has rocks it is best to use 6 ply tires. You will get a flat with anything else sooner or later.

arent the stock tires 20x11x9? the first number is the overall height of the tire. the second is the width. the third is the size of rim. i dont think holeshots come in 12 inch widths. you might feel like you are losing power because you hook up harder. so how are the shreders? i think i am sold on holeshot fronts, but now i am wondering on rears. what about bandits? i want a tire to hook-up hard, and it must preform good in mud. i have a family of non-honda people and they need to be convinced that a fun quad can run mud!

I have ran razr's and hole shots. They have almost the same basic tread pattern. I could not tell the diff between the two. This time i got the xct's and i noticed a difference. It gave it more top speed and less bottom end.

"What about Bandits?"

I have Bandits on my Blaster. They are not good in the sand. They will quickly dig two big holes if you are into hill climbs. But, they are a REAL tough tire that can take a LOT of abuse. I used them all last year and they still look as good as the day I bought them.

It's time for me to replace my stock tires on my 400EX. I'm thinking the ITP 22x11x9 XCT is the way to go.

I run holeshot xct's all the way around..
22x11x9 on rear, and 23x7x10 front.
They are quite a bit heavier than stock, but are much more reliable for the riding that I do. Desert and mountain trails.. I have had them on since June '99 and they are still in fine shape.
They have been through 2 Jamborees in Richfield, Utah and many many more miles beyond that.
You can see what they look like at my website below. Go to the site, click on Member pics, our rides, and then on clutch's.

I've run a variety of different Holeshots on my bikes over the years. I currently run XCT's all the way around on the 400EX and love them. The extra ground clearance is a big help, and the tires are INDESTRUCTABLE!!

Anyway, I've never heard this anywhere before, but I think the Standard Holeshots are a different (softer) rubber compound than the XC's or XCT's. The Standards wear out much quicker, and I think this is where the Holeshots get their reputation for wearing quickly. I just haven't seen the kind of wear on the XC or XCT that I see on the Standards. Anybody else have the same experience??

I stil have the stock tires on my 400ex...soon to be changed though.
My banshee has holeshots up front and bandits in the rear. The holeshots are a world of difference over stock (though heavy 6ply). The bandits are great in my opinion. Good traction and they can be reversed for a scooping affect in snow or mud.
I have been running the same set of bandits for over a year now with no rips or leaks. (trails, rocks you name it.)

Do you run the XCTs on stock rims ?? do you lose any air due to the inch wider tire??

I had Bandits on my 250R and they were awsome for trail riding and even good for the little bit of track riding I did. They wear great, or should I say hardly at all. I think I am going try Razrs on my 400 though.
