400EX or Banshee HELP!!!!!
#2
I would keep the ex, with a 2 stroke banshee you will be tearing it down about every 20 hours of hard riding and rebuilding, also you will be rejetting in the winter and in different altitudes, im no pro but my buds have them and they are looking for 4 strokes.

I don't think so TIM. . .
My friend has both machines he dose a lot more fixing on the EX than the Banshee. . .
I would make the trade hands down and i'm a honda man. . .
I would run the best plugs mix the 20:1 and use amsoil synthetic 2 stroke oil it fly for year's. . . and its newer. . .
he runs NGK plugs and Amsoil dominator oil he puts 1 quart of oil in 5 gallons of premium gas . . . he gets 2 seasons out of a set of plugs. . . its way faster thn the 400EX he had. . .

Two strokes are king and get a bad rap cause people dont know how to properly ride them. I bought a 1989 banshee in 99 and fully rebuilt the engine in 01 with vito's rebuild kit, new crank and pistons and carb kits. I put 200 hours on it with no problem, changing the crankcase oil every 4 hours plugs every 10 and had the carbs cleaned once a year. I sold it in 06 and the new owner does the same thing with no rebuild!

I just picked up a used '05 400ex for my son. We have an '03 Banshee with a lot of upgraded parts that he rode all summer. But... it is a leaky, smelly tempermental beast. It hauls butt, especially in the sand. But, it started to have problems and is a hell of a lot harder to keep running and maintained than my 400ex. So, while at the shop asking about getting the Banshee fixed, I spotted this other 400ex. No brainer. My son rode it all day yesterday and he can jump it higher and wheelie it easier than he could the Banshee. He really enjoyed riding it.
So... if you want a reliable and fun atv, stick with the 400. If you want something that screams in the sand and you don't mind wrenching on it, then get the Banshee. If they made an atv as reliable and fun as the 400ex, but was as fast as the Banshee, we'd all own one!

While the Shee has a very exciting powerband, its frame is old school and way lame! It has terrible shocks, muscle car geometry (does great, as long as all you do is go in a straight line), and bad ergonomics.
You use to see nothing but Shees at Glamis. Then the 4-stroke revolution came along (ushered in by the 400EX) and nobody rides a Shee anymore....and for good reason!!!
