I bought a 1996 honda 300ex for $400.00. It has a 400ex front suspension, pro-circuit t-4 exhaust, rpm front bumper, UNI air filter. He never told me it had these parts on it. As soon as i got it home i started pulling the plastic off i started looking around and i seen it had the front suspension then looked around then seen the exhaust. It needs work right now. like i ordered a clutch cover gasket because it was leaking oil, and clutch cover bolts. it hasnt ran since August, "THATS WHAT HE TOLD ME ANYWAYS". all the plastic needs replaced for sure. I just figured out it needs axle bearings and balljoints. think it was a good deal?

for 400 it was fair. those are small inexpensive fixes, and SO FAR it sounds like the aftermarket parts on it outway the small stuff. the way it sounds youll be luck if the thing doesnt need a rebuild.

little white smoke on start up is usualy valve guide seals,as far a s ball joints go 400ex a arms the ball joint is built in...they list for 80.00 ish each new ,but u can pick some up cheap on ebay ,and probally only need the lowers they go first...on the rear axle berrings take it apart before ordering to check for double row berrings (there about 1 inch wide )the stock berrings are about 1/2" wide....and you can get 400ex plastics cheaper than 300ex but youll need the 400 plastic mounts and do a little modding to fit them....sounds like a good deal to me....before i bought anything get it running first ...clean the carb add fresh gas and a new spark plug ....if it wont run you could eaisly part it out and profit above the 400.00 investment

thanks for replying Y2dat,
The only thing im worried about right now is just to get it running. My new gasket comes in on tuesday or wednesday. Im gonna buy a couple more things today for it. i'll probably get a sparkplug tuesday or wednesday when i go to pick up the gasket. Probably clean the carb today if i dont got nothing else to do. I'll put some pics of it up later today.

I love that perfect plastic, where'd ya get it lol
at least the seat doesn't have big chunks of foam missing, so it should be easy to recover
