My 2002 400EX xrank went down and locked, up, but instead of replacing it , since my top end wasn't worth anything either,
I am lookin at a 2005 engine with reverse. Will this engine bolt up to my 2002 frame, and will the wiring harness
connect, and also will the reverse work?

 

im shure everything will work but the harness and it should have the same wires but plugs change every few years or so (not shure if there same or not),but i still say yes it will,and if you tear down you old motor you could eaisly get 200.00 to 300.00+ dollars on various peices on ebay ( to help balance the motor price )

 

the thing is, i traded my 400EX after the crank went down two days ago, to a 2000 450Foreman 4x4, which i traded and got some money also for the 1997 blaster, I can now trade my 1997 Modded Blaster, back to it, I dont know if its worth trading my blaster than runs great to a 400EX in pieces. If I know for sure I could get a few hundred dollars from my top end, and engine side covers, starter, stator, etc. I can use the money to get a used 440 motor guarenteed to be perfect for $600.00. off ebay, this beongs to a mechanic that said he has rebuilt these engine for 30+years, and is a 440EX, shaved head, port & polish, valve job, and some other things, but i just cant remember them all.

 

i think you could ...check and see what theese parts are going for on ebay..or work a deal with the 440 guy maby send him the blown motor so he can make it a 440 to sell to someone else ..for a nice discount

 

440=PROBLEMS LIKE HEAD GASKETS BLOWING CYLINDER BOLTS BREAKING OVERHEATING ETC I WOULDNT BUY A 440 MY SELF
