Recon keeps dying? Help...
#1
Have a 2001 Honda Recon and a friend was riding it and crashed into a tree. No serious injuries, but the Recon wants to die sometimes while idling and especially if attempting a steep climb, no matter how small such as a small creek or deep ditch. Shortly after nosing it up the hill it will die on me. And as stated sometimes it will even do it when I'm in idle on flat ground.
Anybody know what to check or fix or whatever? I can turn a wrench, but honestly don't know where to start.
Any help greatly appreciated.

sounds like a carb issue. open up the bottom of the carb and test the float. there is a small pin that holds the float in place, you will have to remove that carefully. dont loose the pin! take off the float and submerg it in water. hold it underwater for a few seconds before you take you hand away. if it rises your float is good, but if its bad it will sink, or there will be water inside.
this is a good place to start
