Your going to have the sub-transmission out of that bike ... It would probably shift into reverse also did you try that ..?

Yeah, it's kind of like shifting manual tranny in a pickup without using the clutch. If you catch it at the right time the slack in backlash will let it slip in. The Sub transmission is an unsyncronized gear set though, like first gear in many vehicles with manual transmissions. Only in the Ruby you really can't disengauge the clutch. The centrifugal clutch shoes are driving while accelerating and the one-way (sprag) bearing inside the centrifugal clutch drum loads the crankshaft under engine braking. Like others have said, gears, shift forks and other driveline components can be harmed if the unit is forced to shift from the torque shock inflicted.
Enjoy the Rubi... You have a nice quad there my friend

i don't force it trust me.
just as with a medium or heavy duty truck if it dont just slide out of gear than it aint going to just slide right into the next gear so don't shift. . .

If it has any kind of pressure against it a don't shift it. . .

So i don't think harm is being done with nice smooth gentle shifts. . .

It's no different than shifting the unsyncronized or syncronized transmission from a commercial grade truck that they have been making for over 60 years. . .
they last 750,000 to 1.5million miles. . .

My 53 Stude is an unsyncronized ? / syncronized ? 5spd trans it clutchless shifts fine. . .

My 59 Mack is an unsyncronized 15spd trans it clutchless shifts just fine. . .

My 62 GMC is a unsyncronized 4spd trans it clutchless shift just fine. . .

My 69 AMX is a syncronized 4spd trans it clutchless shifts just fine. . .

you just have to be running the right road speed right engine speed and have no load on the gear box your shifting. . .

terrible quality video. Although, I did find it interesting that you and I have the same quad. Right down to the color.

your just power shifting...and it dose put some wear on the clutch. your just shifting truck trans(IK) when there is some room between the clutch plates. know a dude who power shifted his s-10 ALL the time. got 70K out of the tranny but it was still wearing the clutch more than normal. it will put more wear on the clutch
