Air Filter has Oil in it and Fills with Gas
#1
I have a 2001 Honda TRX350TM Rancher.
The starter needed rebuilt so I did that. I noticed the air filter had oil in it. I took off the air filter to check the starter to make sure it worked and it fired up. The air filter was in fairly bad condition inside not outside. I let it run a little. Next day I was going to pick up a new air filter and noticed that the filter box was 1/2 full of gas. I drained the box and checked the oil and it smelled like gas. I took the oil plug out and then all the gas drained out. When I turned it over more fuel comes out of the drain plug where you change the oil.
Without the air filter it spits gas into the box. Will a new air filter solve this problem or is it something else I need to do?
Thanks for any advice and help,
Jim

Be careful, I think you have a fire hazard there!!!
Usually, if there is oil in the airbox I suspect the crankcase vent, but you have pressure coming out of the carb.
Intake valve staying open during compression or exhaust stroke????? Valve adjustment? Is it possible it has jumped timing???
