Wouldn't hurt to just pick up a service manual....which should answer all your questions.
Not so many of these around anymore, so the average rider isn't going to be personally familiar with it! As I recall it is a pretty standard Honda setup, but if you can post some pictures of what you think is a "drain plug" it would be helpful. (Why would a chain drive need a drain plug???)
What do you mean by "Pro Link"? The suspension linkage??? Is there a grease zirk on it or something??
As far as bearings, they are sealed and inside a carrier, and need not be lubricated, but probably need to be replaced after all these years. Again, a service manual will tell you what you need to do....

I will go over to the shop and try to get a picture.
I remember reading that the bearings were "permanently" lubricated. Permanently usually lasts till the warranty runs out.
This plug is dead center of the barrel shaped part of the swing arm, where the axel goes through. It is a 12mm bolt into a nut wielded to the swing arm. It is up about 30 degrees from the bottom. It looks like a drain plug.

no, it is not a drain plug. it is called a 'stopper bolt' according to the service manual. it was on the 85-87 swingarms for the ATC/TRX 250R. It was removed in 1988.
ive never had to do anything with it. mine is an 86 as well, im the 3rd owner and dont plan to do anything until i have to rebuild the backend. its still tight like it was from the factory and no slack, no play, no signs of wear at all in any bearing or bushing on the entire machine. so if yours is good, id leave it alone. if you want to buy parts for the future then go for it. but i woulnd fool with it until it's really time.
the only zerk i think it may have is on the rear linkage where the shock is. honda isnt as liberal with zerks as yamaha (they are all over on a yamaha) but you can put you own in if you want.
