Default compression on 300ex?

i have a 99 300ex and my compression is at 180. when i first got it,was like 55,and it wouldnt start.has it been sitting for a while? when you do a compression test, make sure you hold the throttle wide open, and if you want to check to see if your rings are in decent shape, squirt some motor oil into where the spark plug is with a squirt gun and see if it raises it any (compression). if it doesnt, you will have to put new rings and freshen up top end,i just got through doing all this to mine. let me know more..........
