Default 300ex front hub on Recon?

I have both a 300ex and a honda recon. the 300ex engine is toast and the front recon hub is busted. i measured the knuckle/spindle from top to bottom and got roughly 4.25 inches on both. I have the recon hub off and will start on the 300ex tomorrow. This would allow for front disc brakes also. has anyone else done this or is it not possible?

so, you haven't heard of anyone else doing this? Also, the front rims are bent on the recon (car accident) with bald tires, the 300ex tires look new... I HOPE THIS WORKS...

If it bolts up properly, i don't see how it could fall off. i'm not sure what you mean. obviously, it the hubs are loose fitting or something i won't do it.

They aren't the same part, i may need to adjust the tie rods a little to compensate for the steering. The thing i think is going to stop this is the ball joints may be different sizes. The 300ex ball joints MAY be beefier and the holes may be too big for the smaller recon ball joints. going to bed, will find out tomorrow if i have time...

It should work, the balljoints and the tierod ends are the same. I know you can put 300ex hubs on a 2wd trx300.

it will work, BUT the top of the tire will stick out past the bottom of the tire. also i would seriously have to screw in (shorten) the recon tie rods. also, the bottom ball joint on the recon is slightly larger than the ball joint on the 300ex. I could drill out the lower hole on the 300ex knuckle and call it a day. It just seems easier to buy a new hub for the recon.
