400EX power?

I just bought a 2001 400EX. A friend of mine said there was a plate or something that I could take off of it to open it up for more power and speed. Is this true? If so what is it?

If you remove your airbox lid you can gain a horsepower or two just by taking it off. Just dont run it in rain or really muddy conditions and clean your airfilter often. That maybe what your friend was thinking.

on some of the 200 models maybe 2001 the throttle was only set to open about 70% check that maybe

if you take your airbox lid off you beter stay out of the rain and mud like the one guy said but something that you need to do is to re-jet your carb.
