I am looking to buy a trx 450 and i found one that the guy says has less than 100hours on it and they were all trail riding hours is a 100 hours a lot on this machine or is it considered lower

 

The word was originally that we were going to have to rebuild evey 15 hours or something ridiculous like that. I know lots of guys with 200+ hours and not needing anything yet.

 

I have around 200 on mine and not a single problem. Keep your fluids and filters clean and your valves adjusted and it will treat you right.

 

Question. How can anyone know how many hours? I mean unless you track 3 here, 5 there, 2 there. I'm sure we could get a estimate that will most likely be way off but, I wouldn't put much faith into the number someone gave me when I'm looking at buying.

 

There is a guy at my local Honda/Yamaha dealer and he claims his 450R has well over 1,000 hours on it.. He says he stopped counting at 1,000 and has been riding it a year since ....... He rode it from New Mexico to Colorado two summers ago and the only failure was a flat tire......... He JUST adjusted his valves for the first time after that ride.... Those things are bullet proof if they are treated right........

They do make hour meters you can bolt on...........
