400 foreman drive shaft

400 foreman drive shaft
when i put the atv in gear the main drive shaft spins without the tires on the rear my question is the shaft suppose to turn when in neutral from the engine being on and the tires not on the atv? i can stop the shaft with my hand when in neutral but not when in gear.
