Default 2000 foreman shift problem

Hey to any one who can help would greatly be appreciated...I have a 2000 foreman es it sat for while with the piston and rings gone we got that all fixed and runs great... but there is a shift problem with the es if you are driving and it stays in the same gear for say 10 seconds it stays in that gear and won't shift up or down until you shut the bike off and restart it... or if take a wrench and use the manuel shift on the motor. You can run it through the gears when it is just siting there ideling..Oh and when it sticks in gear on the dash were it shows what gear it is in there is just a line across it. Any ideas Thanks Ray.

I forgot to mention that the spedometer is not working either , just wondering if that has anything to do with it?

In my eyes, Honda went with a crappy sensor design on the sensor when they designed the engine.
I have replaced a few hundered of them over the years
First sign of them going bad is holding the quad wide open in 3rd gear. You will see the speedo weard out and will not be able to shift thereafter with the electric shift until the quad is stopped, manually shifted into neutral, key off and then back on to reset the ECM
