Default Engine temp question

I am looking into bypassing the temp control for my 2000 foreman. My question is: Will running my fan all the time have any adverse effects?

Default Engine temp question

I've seen Rincon and Rubicon owners set up a fan bypass switch. As long as you don't run the fan at times that doing so wouldn't allow the engine to reach normal operating temp, I don't think it would hurt anything.

On the other hand, if you aren't having any overheating problems, I don't think having the fan on all the time would do anything really positive, either...

Default Engine temp question

Why would you want to do this?

Lets think about this for a minute.
The Honda factory spends millions of $$$'s in R@D. It cost them x amount of $$$'s for the temp sensor they put on every quad. This is money they could save to cut the cost of their quad and sell more quads. But they still put it on their quad.

Do you still think it's a good idea to by-pass the factory engineered sensor?

To answer your question, not getting oil up to operating temp is a way bad thing to do.

I think there is this preception out there that quads run hotter than they really do. I would check the oil temp now and then, and see if it is really as hot as you imagine it is.

Default Engine temp question

I have a 2000 4x4 Rancher and as far as I can tell it has never came on. I don't do any heavy pulling or mudding, mostly just trail ride in flat country and like I said I don't think it has ever come on. Just my thoughts.

I am not bypassing the t-stat because I think the fan doesn't run enough, I want to because the fan control relay is broken and a few wires and a switch cost a lot less than the 120-140 dollar control.
