You may not care, but some people are on a budget and Sand Stars are a really good all around sand tire.

I do agree that Sand Stars are quite a bit heavier.
I run Shat Trak Haulers and Dune Runner fronts on lightweight Douglas 125 wheels. My set of four are almost lighter than a set of rear Sand Stars on ITP C series wheels. I care about lighter weight, some don't.

It is tempting to run ultralight Douglas Blue Label rims (.125's), but I have bent more of these over the years than I care to remember. If you do any jumping at all, they are not the ticket.

sandstars are the ones on my budget.... if a get hooked then the haulers will be next especially if you got that many years out of them. but first lets see if the dunes will grab my attention and bring me back lol. thanks for all the info. plus i like the idea of pre- mounted rims and tires and rmatv seems to have great deals.figure if i can get away with rims and tires under 400 then im doing alright.

I have not been to Sand Lakes myself, but the impression I got asking around was that it wasn't worth it compared to the other three areas. Might want to consider going to one of the others instead????

Sand Lake is OK, but I will drive the extra 1.5 hours to get to Florence, Winchester Bay or Coos.
I don't plan on ever going back to Sand Lake. In my opinion the dunes (sand) there are not worth the time it takes me to get there. (I live north of Seattle)
If you really want to experience the Oregon dunes, go to one of the other three places! Huge dunes, large dune fields and days of exploring will be needed to cover the areas. Sand Lake can be covered completely in less than a day.
Sand Lake also gets VERY crowded since it is so close to Portland, lots of quads and sand rails in a relatively small area.
Sand Lake is fun, you get to ride in the sand, but it does not compare to the other three dune areas on the Oregon coast.

I jump and have yet to bend one.

Obviously you're not going big enough! Even bent them on the light little Blaster, with kids aboard.
