Congratulations on your o6 Rancher 350 purchase. Is yours a manual or ES version?
I own one too, and if any one puts it down, I'd have to say they are just joking with you or they are just jelous.
It will have a clutch, considered an automatic clutch, but beyond that, I can't give you any more info as I dont have a repair manual yet.
Good luck with your Rancher!

Didn't you post this once before????
As I recall, it was more like only 2 or maybe 3 years, before Honda quickly and quietly discontinued this model. Its replacement however, the Rancher 420AT, has a completely different transmission and IRS, and looks to be a great design.
The "adjusting your clutch" thing (agusting your cluch???) is for the guys with belt drives, not your rather complex tranny.....so get over that notion. And, if it is so great as you say, why do you want to mess with the clutch????
If you want more power, do the simple engine mods like increase the air intake (open up the airbox, more free flowing air filter), and aftermarket exhaust system, and a rejet.

I onced own a Foreman 400 4x4 full time, Manual shift. It was a fine machine, but a bit too low geared, and alittle short of suspension, for comfort (for my desires) , but it would climb like a cat, and with its low center gravity, it would enhance one's courage to be able to Take-that-hill!
Be sure to check or have check your valves every now and again.

Hey recon, not only did they do away with the tranny they also canned the 400 engine, the plastic, a tail light, and offer IRS. So you might as well say the whole machine was a failure. Honda used it as a bridge to new territory for them. They had the rubi so they modified its tranny and threw it into the 400AT. If this machine would have flopped Honda never would have put the R&D into making the 420 AT. They used it as a way of exploring a concept, if people would buy a 400 class "complex" automatic. It was a success or there would be no 420AT. Can't fault a Honda for improving a concept. And just because they improve something does not mean that the previous model was trouble prone. These companies have machines in development years before we ever get a hint to what they are. As market shifts occur a smart manufacturer will move with and accelerate development in the direction of the shift.

There has been an increase in "tranny problem" posts on this machine recently (not a landslide, ok), which makes me suspicious that Honda perhaps realized this thing was not going to fly, and cut their losses as quickly as possible. There was a lot of initial speculation that it was a price issue, but now they come up with the 420AT which is $1,000 more than the standard Rancher, so I'm not sure that was Honda's reasoning.
Actually, I think I read that the 420 engine is based off the 400, so maybe it wasn't a total loss for them. Given all this though, I don't think anybody in the know should be recommending the 400AT to anyone thinking of a purchase.
