i just noticed this. is this bad?

i am guessing that the piston condenses more than the cylinder, and once it is warm it equals out again.

i am burning alot of mobil. every ride it moves down about 1/2 a CM on the dipstick.

what to do?

sounds like a broke piston ring to me. Oil is bypassing the ring and getting into the cylinder( which is causing the smoke) but once the engine heats up the ring expands enough to 'seal' the cylinder and the smoking stops

Perhaps the valve guide seals shrinking when it is cold allowing oil to get into the cylinder, then once it heats up the seals expand causing the burning to stop.

maybe.

cracked ring?? not liely, this isn't your 84' tecate, lol.

never thought about the valve thing. O well.

it doesn't seem to be a problem after it warms up. I just don't want all that oil to burn.

I am tearing it apart soon (6 months) for a cam, so i'll check it then, thx for the replies.

Maybe bad oil seal or valve seals
