I dont know if its true for this atv, but many auto, cycles, and I suppose atv will not run without a battery in place. It might be the same for yours.</end quote></div>
Anything with EFI needs a working battery to run the fuel pump. This is tru for most all cars and clycles anymore. It's getting more common on ATV's too.

You almost certainly hurt the motor by running it dry. As was said, the rings are toast the cylinder lining likely is scored and the oil pump is probably now out of speck.
I wouldn't worry about the oil leak. Don't put any junk in the motor it is just a waist of money. Just get a new oil filter, as said, a case of 20w-50 oil that is for a wet clutch (Motorcycle four-stroke oil) any company that you desire. Change the oil/ filter and ride it. CHECK THE OIL OFTEN (like maybe even in the middle of your long rides) because it now burns oil a nd leaks it. You will have to replace the spark plug more often now too.
It may work for years just smoking. It may blow up the next time you start it. Either way you got a pretty good deal at $600.

thank you guys so much for the help you have helped me out alot, i have a few more questions but i will post them one at a time lol, my next question is on the clutch, when i have the atv in reverse i cannot get it to shift back into neutral without shutting off ther engine and with the clutch in it still pulls in reverse slightly i have adjusted the clutch cable on the handlebars and it helped for a few minutes but when i hold the clutch in for about 20 sec it is good then starts to pull me again. when i have the clutch in trying to go into neutral it will not go into neutral unless im rolling a little or i shut the engine off, it jumps up to 2nd or when downshifting it jumps to first but will not for anything go to neutral, i dont know if i need a new clutch or if there is another place to adjust the clutch, i hardly have any money due to an upcoming baby almost here but i wold still like to keep my playtoys lol i know a clutch kit is not much(if the clutch kit is what i need) but i still dont have the money for it! any jimmy rigging ideas or other options will be appreciated lol, im looking into trading my car for another fourwheeler but i wold still like to keep this one for friends to ride or just a backup
