Default fluids and wtf?

ok i know atv's have oil and brake fluid but is there any other fluid i have to check or make sure is full? on the back axel underneath there is a screw hole with nothing in it and im thining it might take a grease fitting but im not sure is there a bolt for filling it with fluid or is it a grease fitting supposed to be there and does anyone know what size if any? 99 trx 300ex, im not sure what to fill this hole with either, if it is a grease fitting i wold also like to know the size instead of just buying a lot of them and trying trial by error, thanks!

There shouldn't be a grease fitting on the swingarm on a 300EX , I believe what you see is where the "stopper bolt" is .. I would guess yours is missing .. It is an 8mm bolt the threads are 8x1.25mm ..

Here is a picture of where the bolt is..

HondaMechanic posted pages from the service manual. Get yourself a service manual and you will find that info and a whole lot more!

In the picture the stopper bolt appears to be a secondary bearing cam holder. The two hex head bolts are the primary. This is also how the chain tension is adjusted.

Call the dealer on the phone and have them order it with your credit card and then mail it to you. Or they may be able to just have the manual go straight to you. They will need the 16 digit number on the front, the expiration date and the 3 security numbers off the back of the card that is just past the sig box.

DO NOT EVER GIVE THIS INFO OUT TO ANYONE. That is my disclaimer, take it as you will.

There are several places where you can order manuals on-line. Google Honda atv service manual or something like that, and you should find something.

You keep going on about "fluids" in the rear end. Bearings take grease, and they are permanently lubed and normally don't require routine maintenance, unless something unusual happens to them (like you run around in the mud all the time).
