Valve adjustment 86 TRX200SX
#1
The TRX200SX valve adjustment is unlike any other. I did what I think is correct but just want to verify. It calls for .003 clearance. I moved the adjuster counterclockwise until it stopped, then clockwise 1/2 increment. My question is about the 1/2 increment. The increment lines are long with short ones between every long one. The manual says to move clockwise 1/2 increment and the manual shows a dimension line from a long line to a short line, but it is so small that the picture is not clear. Is the distance from a long line to a short line 1/2 increment? Or is 1/2 increment 1/2 the distance from a long line to a short line?

Ok thanks. I did it right. Actually I thought it was easier than the screw type. The biggest problem was getting the crank to stop at the timing mark with the pull starter rope. It wanted to blow past it even when I just crept up on it.

I should have said they are harder to get exact than the screw type using feeler gauges .. Yes it's hard to stop on the " T " or in this case the index mark , with the spark plug in your fighting compression and with the spark plug out then your fighting the flywheel magnets ..

Yep. The plug was out so I guess it was the magnets. I was thinking it was piston weight that I was fighting. I just kept tapping the pull starter rope. It took a few minutes but I finally got it. I guess it doesn't have to be perfectly on the mark, as long as the cam is not hitting the rocker arms.
