I didn't intend a flame war with the Honda owners or the polaris fans, I just simply wanted to know what Honda had and the reliability they could offer!

Thanks for the input, it is very appreciated.

Peace I'm out......

buckhotsoup.....got a little crazy withe the ascII didn't ya anyway, if you want a strictly work quad then the foreman 400/450 will be tough to beat with ANY quad. notice i said strictly work. If you want some sport then look at the rubicon and ranchers as far as honda goes. Sportsmans and the rest of the polaris' are nice i just will never trust a belt drive tranny, no matter how much good luck people have with then.

Hold your horses 450 riders. The 450 will hold thir own on the trails with the ranchers and rubicons, i just feel thay are more at home on the farm than on the trail.

just my random thoughts. no bashing intended.

I'm sure the Rubicon is a great quad. Just remember that the tranny is a sealed unit, if any part of it fails, the WHOLE thing needs replaced. I bet the cost of replacing it is equal to the whole machine.

You need to educate yourself. First there is no current utility model that has a manual clutch in the Honda lineup. One magazine named the Sportsman as winner in the big bore shoot out, the other named the Rubicon.

Ride them both & see which options are best for you. This is really the chevy Vs ford debate.

TheQuadFather, just remember that until you know what the price is anything that you say is speculation. Why do you think it would cost that much. How much is it to replace the transmission on your car? I dont think it costs as much as the car. Why would the transmission go out? With proper care and service it will do just fine.

BÜÇK§hÕT§ÕûP, The Sportsman 500HO and the Rubicon are both great quads. Each has strengths and weeknesses. Find someone who will let you ride both of them and test for yourself.

BuckShotSouporsomething:

Ask that question if you want but as you found out expect to get some droolers in response. Best idea I think, and what I used to base my ATV purchases on, is read the forums going back awhile, read the field reports by ATV Connection, Dirt Wheels, 4 Wheel ATV Action etc. You should get the general impression any recent Honda is unmatched in mechanical quality and that to me is more important than IRS and the disc/drum brake silliness. These things cost a lot of money--why not get something that will last and that has a big corporation standing behind it?
To me, your question has a simple answer--just focus your time on deciding which Honda you want.
