Default has anyone had this happen to them????

so i have a 05 rancher 400 at.this bike has had probloms with the angle sensor since a year after i bought it new.it has been in and out of dealer from 06-08.after dealer couldnt figure out problem i took it to a local atv shop and had him look at it.i was told the angle sensors that dealer installed never had the 0-ring on them and that's why the kept get burned.he replaced sensor and added oring and bike rode great for a day of mudding, and by the end of the day problem came back.he charged me 400 and was told hondmatic need replacement, and that would cost about 2500.since then i have bought a service book and checked and even splitted the cases myself.heres where it gets good...i found that the oil pump had exploded and wasnt pumping any oil anywhere(could this be why the hondamatic wasn't working?)ALSO i found a shop rag stuffed in the side cover, on the stator side..so idont know if this guy was tring to screw me over or what, but the there is lint from the rag all over the place.

Yes it must have a good oil pump for the hydrostatic pump to work properly ... Who would have the alternator cover off on that bike , did you have any other work done on it besides angle sensor work ....?

WOW that is rediculous! Talk about shady service shop! Have you talked to the people there about what has happened to the oil pump and that rag also? I would be furious if I found that in there!!! You might be able to get compensation for that because that isn't honest work right there! I would "talk" to the shop and see what was going on!

since little my dad always told me,if you want something done right,do it yourself.i guess i was just trying to take advantage of that extended warranty.i've always worked on all of my quads from splitting cases to porting, but was scared due to it being a 4 stroke and all of those extra moving parts.so now this 400 is getting a port job and full exhaust..lol..not trying to make it faster just tring to look for some more torque.hopfuly by replacing the oil pump, all my problems will go away.cant see myself spending 1200 for a new honamatic.
